Welcome to the world of machinima. The word is a misspelled blend of two words—machine cinema—to form one new word. It describes a form of animation, using the early graphics engines found in video games, such as Doom and Quake, but with the goal of filming the action rather than recording a high score. It is filmmaking within a real-time, 3D
virtual environment, often using 3D video-game technologies. But you already knew that.
Shelf Life is a machinima webseries of remarkably high quality. It was made by James Spencer and Jon Sortland of pixel eyes productions.
