"Thijs and the ladies"

How many actors do you need to make a short film? How about one actor, armed with a mirror?

Here's the first episode of a Dutch web series that featured at the 2011 Marseille Web Fest. The story line focuses on a hapless individual who is on the hunt for a girlfriend. 

The film has English subtitles, but you could probably follow it without their help. 

Mike Ajakwe on Making a Web Series

Michael Ajakwe, Jr. is probably the single most influential person in the world of webseries television.  He has his own web-channel, Ajakwe TV, he set up the world's first webseries festival, LA Web Fest, he was a consultant to the first European web festival, the Marseille Web Fest, and he has written, filmed, edited and distributed his own webseries, Who... 

The guy knows a lot about the business.If you're interested in making a webseries, you should these four clips.

"Who..."

Another webseries that played at the Marseille Web Fest is Who... It was created by Michael Ajakwe, Jr., who is himself a very interesting guy. He is a first-generation Nigerian-American who has written/directed/produced theatre, TV, movies and this webseries.

In his spare time, he set up LA Web Fest, the world's first all-web series festival. The second installment of which is due to take place from April 19-22, 2012, in Culver City, California.  Here he talks about the first festival.



The LA Web Fest attracted a lot of interest, including that of a French filmmaker who wanted to set up what became the Marseille Web Fest. In the following video clip, Michael Ajakwe talks about how he became involved in that.

"Asylum"

One of the entries to the recent Marseille Web Fest was Asylum. The series was created by Dan Williams and is a mystery thriller, instead of the usual comedy.

Welcome to St. Dympna Hospital for the Criminally Insane - a forgotten institution hiding a mystery more dangerous than any patient or doctor could imagine. 

Turn the sound up. Move to the edge of your seat, and concentrate hard. Here's Episode One. (It has subtitles in French, for the benefit of our friends at Marseille.)

Script Cops 4

It's Friday. Again. I'm doing lunch with my wife at The Elephant today, followed by Midnight in Paris at the Palace Nova. (After that crack about her chattering away pointlessly, I had to do something thoughtful. Meanwhile, my bruises are healing nicely.)

At the same time, webisodes are up and happening. The Marseille Web Fest just wrapped. It featured twenty-two entries from a dozen countries (none from Australia, though). Script Cops was one of seven American entries.

The competition was won by The Big Dick Mike Show. That's a guy called "Mike" who really fancies his own appendage. It's so impressive, he thinks, that he's entitled to coast through life.  Could any one show be more enthralling?
