The 'Breaking Bad' wide shot
We loved Breaking Bad for it's riveting story-telling and its brilliant visual style. There are many analyses of both out there. Here's one from Jorge Luengo Ruiz which appreciates the use of wide shots, something rarely done on TV. In every episode, cinematographer Michael Slovis at some point sets the camera well back from the action, emphasizing New Mexico’s desert vistas, infinite horizons, and blue skies. Take a look:
